D’Tigress Crashed Out after an Impressing FIBA Women’s World Cup Campaign.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress can walk with shoulders high despite their elimination from the FIBA women’s world cup. D’Tigress suffered a 71- 40 defeat to reigning champions the United States of America in the quarter finals of the competition. Nigeria started brightly in the contest taking a 19- 7 lead in the first quarter but could only manage 6 points in the second as against the united states 18 to go into half time with score at 27-23 in favour of the Americans. The third quarter ended 19-12 as the United States opened up an eleven points lead going into the final quarter. D’Tigress were a shadow of their initial spark in the final quarter as the U.S outscored them 25-20 to win the contest 71-40. Despite the defeat to the United States, the performance of Nigeria at this year’s world cup is unprecedented becoming the first African country ever to win three matches at a FIBA world cup tournament. Salah, Ronaldo And Luka Modric Shortlisted For UEFA Player Of The Year Award

Africa’s Mohamed Salah, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric have been short-listed for the UEFA Player of the Year Award. The European Governing Body released the list on Monday.Mohammed Salah, who scored 44 Goals  in his First Season for Liverpool Last Season, helped the Reds reach the Champions League Final where they lost to Real Madrid. Salah is also the Current Premier League Player of the Year and a multiple Record Breaker in his First Term at Liverpool. Ronaldo, who won the Award Last Season, helped Real Madrid to a Third Consecutive Champions League Title and finished as the Competition’s Top Scorer with 15 Goals. The Portuguese, who has Three Wins in total, is the only Player to have made the Shortlist every Year since UEFA created the Award in 2011. Modric, also part of Madrid’s Champions League winning team, finished runner-up with Croatia at the World Cup, winning the Best Player Award at the Tournament In Russia.
